The hands behind Sassy Roots
I'm an herbalist, and Sassy Roots is how I help you harness the power of nature's remedies — small-batch goods, made by hand, for your everyday well-being.

My commitment to herbalism isn’t just a profession — it’s a way of life. I’ve spent decades listening: to plants, to ancestors, and to the land beneath my feet here in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve followed the ancient knowledge passed down through generations, and I’m dedicated to sharing it with you.
Sassy Roots is where that listening becomes something you can hold. Everything I make is small-batch and by hand — formulated with the same care I’d bring to my own family, and often made after you order rather than pulled off a warehouse shelf. Whether you’re brand new to herbs or a fellow enthusiast, I’m here to be a guiding light along the path.
Taking care of yourself is the most revolutionary, sassiest thing you can do. Dara Pressley · Sassy Roots
Being educated about your body and caring for it is your right and your responsibility — whether you’re working with an herbalist, an alternative healer, a spiritualist, or a medical doctor. I believe in tending the whole of you: mind, body, and spirit, all connected. Herbs are powerful allies on that path.
My work is fueled by a deep love of the natural world. I’ve spent years learning, growing, and sharing what I know.
Mind, body, and spirit are connected. I work with the whole person — herbs are allies across all of it.
Every person’s path is their own. I tailor remedies and guidance to your needs, not a one-size-fits-all formula.
Sassy Roots is a Black woman-owned apothecary, and its goods are made for everyone. The knowledge behind them is my inheritance — Black and Indigenous plant tradition, ancestral and diasporic — and I bring it, in my own hands, to everything I make here in the Pacific Northwest.
Explore the wonders of the natural world, learn the magic of herbs, and find a little more balance and vitality along the way. I’m glad you’re here.
